NOTICE OF RACE
The Organizing Authority is the Pointe Claire Yacht Club and The International Etchells Canadian Fleet 3.
1. Rules
1.1This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2009-2012 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
1.2 The rules and regulations of the International Etchells Class Association will apply except as modified by the Sailing Instructions.
1.3 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will prevail.
1.4 If there is a conflict between rules or regulations, other than the RRS, the sailing Instructions
will prevail.
2. Advertising
Advertising is permitted under ISAF Regulation 20: Advertising Code
3. Eligibility and Entry
3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the Etchells Class.
3.2 All skippers of competing boats must be members of the International Etchells Class Association.
3.3 Eligible boats may enter by entering the first race of the Pointe Claire Annual Regatta by passing by the RC boat on starboard tack and announcing their sail number..
4. Schedule
4.1 Dates of racing: Saturday July 11 and Sunday July 12.
4.2 The number of races scheduled is 6.
4.3 The scheduled time for the warning for the first race on Saturday July 11 is 1000
4.4 The scheduled time for the warning for the first race on Sunday July 12 is 1000
4.5 The awards ceremony will take place as soon as possible after the last race on Sunday
5. Venue
Racing will take place on Lac St. Louis
6. Sailing Instructions.
Sailing Instructions will be available on the PCYC website.
7. The Course.
The course to be sailed will be windward- leeward .
8. Penalty System
The Penalty for breaking a rule of Part 2 shall be a One Turn Penalty (one tack and one gybe in the same direction) except that for infringements occurring within the Zone, as defined in the current RRS, the penalty shall be Two Turn Penalty (two tacks and two gybes in the same direction). This changes RRS 44.1 and 44.2
9. Scoring.
9.1. Four (4) races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
9.2 When 5 or fewer races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
9.3 When 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
10. Launch and Haul Out.
All boats must be in the water by 0930 Saturday July 11th and shall not be hauled during the regatta except with the prior permission of the Race Committee
11. Prizes.
The Quebec Championship trophy will be awarded to the winner.
12. Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
13. Insurance
Each participating boat shall be insured with third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $1,000,000 per event or equivalent.
