NOTICE OF RACE


The Organizing Authority is the Hudson Yacht Club and The International Etchells Canadian Fleet 3.


1. Rules

1.1This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2009-2012 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

1.2 The rules and regulations of the International Etchells Class Association will apply except as modified by the Sailing Instructions.

1.3 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will prevail.

1.4 If there is a conflict between rules or regulations, other than the RRS, the sailing Instructions 

will prevail.


2. Advertising

Advertising is permitted under ISAF Regulation 20: Advertising Code


3. Eligibility and Entry

3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the Etchells Class.

3.2 This regatta is sanctioned by the IECA as a B event

3.3 Eligible boats may enter by completing the registration form, together with the required fee and submitting it to the Organizing Authority before 1000 June 5th, 2009.

3.4 Sail cards and safety equipment, for each boat, will be verified at registration. 

3.5 Crew weigh- in will be done during registration. The combined weight of crew members of each boat may be posted on the Official Notice Board.


4. Fees

4.1 The required entry fee is $195.  cdn. per    boat. 

4.2 Late entry fee will be $225.  cdn. for entries received after May 24th  

4.3 Entry fee includes 3 dinner tickets.                                                                                                                                         


5. Schedule

5.1 Registration Thursday June 4th 1600 – 2000 and Friday June 5th 0800- 1000 in the HYC clubhouse.

5.2 Competitor’s briefing 1000 June 5th in the HYC clubhouse

5.3 Dates of racing: Friday June 5th to Sunday June 7

5.4 The number of races scheduled is 9.

5.5 The scheduled time for the warning for the first race Friday June 5th   1230

5.6 The scheduled time for the warning for the first race Saturday June 6th, and Sunday June 7th will be 1030 

5.7 No warning signal will be displayed after 1330 Sunday June 7th 

5.8 The awards ceremony will take place as soon as possible after the last race on Sunday


6. Venue

 Racing will take place on the Lac Des Deux Montagnes


7. Sailing Instructions.  

Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.


8. The Course.

 The course to be sailed will be windward- leeward .


9. Penalty System

9. The Penalty for breaking a rule of Part 2 shall be a One Turn Penalty (one tack and one gybe in the same direction) except that for infringements occurring within the Zone, as defined in the current RRS, the penalty shall be Two Turn Penalty (two tacks and two gybes in the same direction). This changes RRS 44.1 and 44.2


10. Scoring.

10.1. Four (4) races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

10.2 When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

10.3 When from 5 to 9 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.


11.  Launch and Haul Out. 

All boats must be in the water by 1000 Friday June 5th   and shall not be hauled during the regatta except with the prior permission of the. Race Committee


12. Prizes.

 Keeper prizes will be awarded for first through third place.


13. Disclaimer of Liability

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.


14. Insurance

Each participating boat shall be insured with third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $1,000,000 per event or equivalent.


15 Radio Communications

15.1 All boats must carry a marine band VHF radio capable of receiving normal international channels. Boats may use the radio to report retirement from racing or to request assistance in an emergency. No other transmissions are permitted by competing boats. The Race Committee may use the radio to advice competitors of race information.
